Red Swan Episode 1 Recap
Red Swan Episode 1 introduces us to Oh Wan-soo, a goodwill ambassador and Director of the NOW Foundation, which helps young people affected by war. Wan-soo is at the UN to raise money for a young girl named Balak. After her presentation, a staff member rushes in to inform her that ISIS has threatened to kill her for her work. Despite the threat, Wan-soo refuses to cancel her trip to the Philippines and is more annoyed that her rude mother-in-law, Chairwoman Park, will also be attending the party there.
Red Swan Episode 1 Investigating the death
We also meet Seo Do-yun, who is investigating the death of his friend Ju-hyuk. His investigation leads him to a hotel where a deal is happening. Disguised as a cleaner, Do-yun discovers that Ju-hyuk’s assassin is in town. He sees his former colleague, Kyeong-ju, involved in the deal and recalls the assassin mentioning a “flower shop.” This clue ties Kyeong-ju to the crime.
Do-yun gets a call from Kyeong-ju and agrees to meet in Manila. He is determined to find the truth and get justice for Ju-hyuk. Meanwhile, Wan-soo arrives in Manila and secures a donation from an Arabian Crown Prince. Her husband, Yong-guk, joins her, and they appear to be the perfect couple.
Do-yun learns that the assassin plans to strike in the Makati District. At the same time, Wan-soo heads there for her auction party preparations. A sniper shoots her bodyguard, causing chaos. Do-yun saves Wan-soo, and they escape together. He finds a GPS tracker on their car and convinces Wan-soo to come to his place for safety.
At Do-yun’s place, he treats his injury and lets Wan-soo use his phone to contact her people. She can’t remember their numbers, so Do-yun drives her to the embassy. Kyeong-ju later offers Do-yun a job at Hwain Group, which he accepts, hoping to find more answers about Ju-hyuk’s death.
Red Swan Episode 1 Ending Explained
Wan-soo continues with her day despite the attack and refuses her mother-in-law’s demand to use her Foundation for bribery. Chairwoman Park threatens her, but Wan-soo stands firm. Wan-soo later holds a press conference about the ISIS attack, angering Chairwoman Park and Yong-guk, who wanted to keep it secret.
The episode ends with Wan-soo and Yong-guk arriving at the party, where Kyeong-ju introduces Do-yun as Wan-soo’s new bodyguard, surprising her.
