Six-time Olympic cycling champion Sir Chris Hoy has shared that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. In an interview, he mentioned that doctors have given him a prognosis of two to four years to live.
The 48-year-old Scot initially revealed his cancer diagnosis earlier this year but did not disclose the type until now. He has been diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones.
Sir Chris Hoy, a six-time Olympic gold medalist, won his medals between 2004 and 2012, making him one of Britain’s top Olympians. He retired in 2013 and has since worked as a cycling pundit for BBC Sport.
In a recent interview, he revealed that he has known for a year that his cancer is terminal, with tumors found in several areas, including his shoulder and spine. He reflected on the natural cycle of life, expressing gratitude for the medical treatment available to help prolong his life.

After the article was published, he shared on Instagram that he is feeling fit, strong, and grateful for the love and support from his family and friends, encouraging everyone to look forward.
Sir Chris Hoy’s cancer was discovered last year during a routine scan for shoulder pain, which revealed a tumor. He received the terminal diagnosis while with his wife, Sarra, and they have two young children. Shortly before his diagnosis, Sarra was also found to have multiple sclerosis.
Sir Chris, inspired by BMX scenes in the film E.T., won six Olympic gold medals, 11 world titles, and 43 World Cup titles before retiring. He first won gold in the 2004 Athens Olympics and continued to excel in 2008 and 2012. He was honored to be the flag bearer for Team GB at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, and a stadium in Glasgow was named after him for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
