DeAndre Hopkins Joins Chiefs in Trade from Titans for 5th-Round Pick. The Tennessee Titans traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Chiefs will send a fifth-round draft pick that could turn into a fourth-rounder. This trade follows recent moves where the Las Vegas Raiders sent Davante Adams to the New York Jets and the Cleveland Browns traded Amari Cooper to the Buffalo Bills.
Both the Raiders and Browns were struggling, and like them, the Titans decided to move on from their veteran receiver as they looked to the future.
Will Levis has struggled this season, and the 1-5 Titans appear unlikely to contend in the AFC. As a result, DeAndre Hopkins’s performance has also dipped, prompting the Titans to trade him before his contract expires after the 2024 season. Now, the Chiefs hope that a change of scenery will help the five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro regain his peak form.

DeAndre Hopkins Aims to Rediscover Form with Chiefs
This season, DeAndre Hopkins has recorded 15 catches for 173 yards and a touchdown in six games, but he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards last year for the seventh time in his career. Although he is 32 years old and in his 12th NFL season, making it unrealistic to expect him to replicate his 2017 form, he remains an excellent route runner and can make contested catches. Hopkins also brings valuable leadership and is now in a great position to compete for his first Lombardi Trophy.
The Chiefs are aiming for a third straight Super Bowl title and addressed their biggest need by trading for DeAndre Hopkins. With wide receivers Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown both injured and running back Isiah Pacheco sidelined, the offense has lacked playmakers, relying heavily on Travis Kelce and rookie Xavier Worthy.
Despite this, the team is 6-0, thanks largely to a defense that has allowed the fifth-fewest points per game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is having a tough season, averaging a career-low 231.6 passing yards per game with more interceptions than touchdowns. Hopkins adds a reliable target for Mahomes, making the offense more dangerous as they pursue a Lombardi Trophy.
